Remy Murillo, Assistant Coach

Born and raised in Riverside, California, and in the inland empire grappling/wrestling community,. Remy is a redshirt sophomore 133-pounder with three (3) years of NCAA eligibility remaining and a proven record at every level of competition. Remy, a product of Canyon Springs High School and California Baptist University, has spent more than a decade on the mat. Over the past two (2) years, Remy has been actively competing at Division 1 level and gaining experience as a Youth Coach, Private Trainer, and Clinician.

At California Baptist University (CBU), Remy established himself as a dangerous and productive Division 1 competitor at 133 pounds. In the 2025-2026 season, Remy wrestled 19 matches, stacking up nine (9) dual victories and leading the CBU team in match points with 36 points. During this run, Remy earned a ranked win over #30 by decision and climbed as high as #28 in the national rankings, and secured the starting 133-pound spot a the BIG 12 Championships.

As a true freshman in the 2024-2025, Remy made an immediate impact in the Lancers’ lineup. Competing in 14 matches at 133-pounds, he finished the season leading the team in pins with 5 falls. That season included dual wins over Air Force and West Virginia, highlighted by a statement victory over BIG 12 Champion Jett Strickenberger. Remy also captured titles at Wranglemania- one with a major decision and 2 pins - and at the Prestigious Reno tournament of Champions while competing unattached.

Before college, Remy built one of the most decorated resumes in Canyon Springs High School history. Remy was

With 11 years of Wrestling experience and a five (5) year background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), remy brings a comprehensive combat sports perspective to every athlete he trains. Since graduating High School in 2024, Remy has consistently invested in the next generation of wrestlers across Riverside, Ca and surrounding areas working with all ages and skill levels. This teaching back expanded from brand new wrestlers to advanced high school and collegiate wrestlers. Remy’s coaching work includes private training, returning to Canyon Springs High School, assisting local programs and contributing to various wrestling camps and clinics.

As a coach, Remy is known for high-level technical detail, a relentless standard for effort, and the ability to train alongside his athletes at a high pace.

In addition to these specific specialties, Remy is equally effective teaching foundational skills to beginners and sharpening advanced techniques and systems for advanced wrestlers. Along with techniques, Remy emphasizes drilling systems, competition preparation, and mindset - ultimately assisting young athletes develop confidence, composure, and toughness that carry far beyond the mat.

Currently based in Riverside, Ca, Remy is preparing to continue his collegiate career at a new program following the closure of CBU’s wrestling program. As he pursues his own goals at the next level, Remy remains committed to serving the the wrestling community that raised him and using his experience and passion to develop the next wave of wrestlers here at DEEP WATERS RTC.
